Help protect your calves at every stage

Calf Wellness can help a herd improve Dairy Wellness and realize its future potential. And it starts by using proper health programs and management to build immunity and minimize disease exposure. A healthy start can make all the difference for full lifetime productivity.

Get her off to a strong start
Disease management is vital to Calf Wellness and should begin on day one. A consistent, high-quality calf management program can help boost your calves’ immunity.

An intranasal vaccine such as INFORCE™ 3, delivered at birth, can help stimulate immunity where respiratory pathogens attack first — the upper airways. And, when post-weaned heifers move from individual to group housing, the primary challenge is respiratory disease.1 That’s why a second dose of INFORCE 3 administered at the time of weaning may help boost calves’ immunity.

Help protect her pregnancy
You’ve raised her and now it’s time for her to pay you back. Protect your reproductive investment and help prevent reproductive diseases that can reduce fertility and cause abortions.

BOVI-SHIELD GOLD FP® 5 L5 HB helps prevent Lepto hardjo-bovis infections, urinary shedding and kidney colonization. It also helps protect against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) virus abortions and respiratory disease associated with IBR virus, bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) Types 1 and 2 viruses, parainfluenza 3 (PI3) virus and bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV*). Be sure to administer the last dose of BOVI-SHIELD GOLD FP 5 L5 HB for replacement heifers approximately 30 days prior to breeding.

Keep her healthy through the transition
Your prefresh heifers have fragile immune systems, which makes them easy targets for health challenges like respiratory disease and salmonellosis infections.

Prefresh immunity can be compromised when heifers start preparing for freshening and colostrum production for their calves. Set up specific vaccination programs with your veterinarian to help reduce the risk of respiratory disease, control the impact of Salmonella, and help protect newborn calves from scours.

A consistent, high-quality Calf Wellness program can help boost your calves’ immunity, and support your entire herd and bottom line. Work with your veterinarian to help ensure a healthy herd, from birth through freshening.

*Do not use in pregnant cattle (abortions can result) unless they were vaccinated, according to label directions, with any BOVI-SHIELD GOLD FP or PREGGUARD GOLD FP vaccine, prebreeding initially and within 12 months thereafter. Do not use in calves nursing pregnant cows unless their dams were vaccinated within the past 12 months as described above. To help ensure safety in pregnant cattle, heifers must receive at least 2 doses of any BOVI-SHIELD GOLD FP or PREGGUARD GOLD FP vaccine with the second dose administered approximately 30 days prebreeding.
