EXCEDE available in a larger bottle

August 26, 2013
POSTED BY: Gary Neubauer | DVM | Senior Manager | Dairy Technical Services | Zoetis

In 2012, EXCEDE® (ceftiofur crystalline free acid) Sterile Suspension was approved to treat postpartum metritis in just two doses, providing a more convenient and cost-effective option to other metritis treatments. This metritis approval adds to the list of approved uses for EXCEDE to treat bovine respiratory disease (BRD) and foot rot, as well as control BRD in dairy heifers younger than 20 months of age.

Since EXCEDE now carries more labeled indications, it needs a bigger bottle, too.

EXCEDE is now available in a larger, 250 mL bottle, providing you with a more convenient size along with the same unquestionable performance. And EXCEDE is cost-effective, offering more doses per bottle than other leading treatment options because of its small dose volume of 1.5 mL per hundredweight.

You can count on EXCEDE because of its demonstrated efficacy and extended therapy. Along with more treatment options, EXCEDE also carries the Residue Free Guarantee™*,bringing you peace of mind that you won’t have a violative drug residue as long as you follow the label.

EXCEDE is still available in 100 mL vials. To learn more about EXCEDE or the Residue Free Guarantee, visit excede.com/dairy or contact your local Zoetis representative.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: People with known hypersensitivity to penicillin or cephalosporins should avoid exposure to EXCEDE. EXCEDE is contraindicated in animals with known allergy to ceftiofur or to the ß-lactam group (penicillins and cephalosporins) of antimicrobials. Inadvertent intra-arterial injection is possible and fatal. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal. Pre-slaughter withdrawal time is 13 days following the last dose. See full Prescribing Information, here.

*Residue Free Guarantee: If you use a Zoetis-branded ceftiofur product according to label indications, and experience a violative ceftiofur milk or meat residue, Zoetis will compensate you for the beef market value of the animal or purchase the tanker of milk at fair market value. You must purchase the product from a Zoetis-approved supplier, use the product according to label indications, have documentation of the product purchase and treatment records, and have conducted training on appropriate use to ensure proper dose and route of administration of the product. Extra-label use as prescribed by a veterinarian is excluded from the guarantee. If you experience a ceftiofur residue violation after following label indications and the above st eps, contact Zoetis VMIPS (Veterinary Medical Information and Product Support) at 800-366-5288 to report the situation.
