Breeding program Q&A
Do I need to implement the entire program at once?
No. You can start with only one area of the 100-Day Contract
SM Program, and implement
the program in steps. We suggest starting with the area (fresh-cow management,
for example) where you have the biggest challenges, or the greatest need to improve.
That way, you'll see economic results more quickly.

Where did this program come from?
Dr. Jim Spain, Extension dairy specialist at the University of Missouri, discussed
the impact of nutrition on fresh-cow health and reproduction in a paper titled
"A Nutritional Perspective on Reproduction Management." The technical services
team at Pfizer Animal Health expanded upon these concepts, envisioning a comprehensive
dairy wellness program - now known as the 100-Day Contract. Pfizer veterinarians
continue to refine the elements of the 100-Day Contract as more research becomes
available.

What exactly is the "contract?" Do I have to sign an agreement with Pfizer
Animal Health?
No. The 100-Day Contract is an arrangement between you and your cows. By
agreeing to carefully manage cows during the critical 100 days - 30 days before
calving to 70 days after - you will fulfill the terms of the "contract." Your
rewards will be healthier cows and significantly higher pregnancy rates.
